A beautifully crafted vintage English flame mahogany campaign chest fitted with a pullout desk, also called a butler's chest. Seven drawers offer ample storage and the top drawer fold out desk features a tooled leather writing surface as well as small drawers and cubbies for storage. All the brass hardware is original and intact. The flame mahogany wood is beautifully grained, particularly on the top where it is bookmatched.
The chest comes apart into two pieces for ease of movement. The finish is in very good condition. The top has been refinished. Shallow scratches in the top rectangular plate. Measures 35.5"H x 26"L x 16"D Condition commensurate with age and use. The top surface has been professionally refinished due to damage to the original varnish. Random small shallow scratches in the wood, leather writing surface, and brasses due to use. Two very small areas of missing trim on the drawers, additional photos available upon request.
