A classic and functional antique oak Arts & Crafts style paneled king size headboard that was created from joining two twin headboards together in the late 20th century. The original headboards were created in the 1920s or 1930s out of solid oak panels, likely in the United States but possibly England. Originally this pair of twin headboards would have had matching footboards and rails but those have since been lost. The carved arched crowns that top the headboard are removable to achieve a more streamlined, masculine look. The oak panels are straight and true, firmly secured in the original framing. The crowns are ornamented with incised carving. If you are looking for an antique headboard in a modern, functional size, this is a great option!
Since the headboards were joined together with modern framework and screws, this is an extremely strong king size headboard. In addition it is tall, so that pillows can be piled up against it and there is still a good amount of headboard that is visible.
Measurements 65.5"H x 79"W x 2.5"D with crown; 61"H without crown
Condition commensurate with age and use. Random small scratches and imperfections in the wood. See the photos of the back for framework that joins the two headboards together. The wood is in good, strong condition and is varnished, so it is clean and ready for use. This headboard can be bolted to a wall, fixed to a wall using brackets, or attached to a bedframe.
