A gorgeous antique art nouveau 1920s or 1930s lidded melon dish which is attached to a leaf plate. The craftsmanship of this piece is outstanding though it does not bear maker's marks. It is of the quality and characteristics of French Sarreguemines. It is possible that this piece was made by Sarreguemines but not marked due to the imperfections in the glaze at the bottom of the melon bowl. Not all pieces by this French maker were marked. There is subtle crazing in the old glaze. This would be a wonderful addition to a collection of fruit or vegetable antique ceramics. A wonderful holiday or wedding gift! Measures 4.25"H x 8.5"W x 7.75"D Condition commensurate with age and use. Note the two slit perforations in the leaf that were created at the time of manufacture.
