An absolutely stunning antique and rare circa 1900 French mahogany dresser with three drawers that was professionally hand painted with a basket of flowers, garlands and ribbons on an aqua ground with gold accents. The bail pulls on this dresser are in the form of laurel bellflower garlands and cast out of bronze. An old key turns the locks on the drawers. The drawer interiors are beautifully crafted of mahogany and elm with the top drawer boasting scalloped dividers for organization, clearly indicating the high end nature of this piece. The dresser sits on tapered, fluted legs in the neoclassical style. Dresser measures 34.75"H x 50"W x 24"D
Included is a matching mirror framed with the same aqua and gold painted wood topped with ribbon carving. On the back of the mirror is new picture wire, ready for hanging. Dresser could be used with or without the mirror. The mirror measures 31"H x 44"W x 2"D.
As this is an antique set, it comes with its imperfections. Please note that there is a small amount of carving missing from the top of the mirror. The right drawer pull on the middle drawer was missing so a reproduction was professionally cast from the original and patinated to match. There are scratches and imperfections in the painted surface, most notably in the top, see photos. In particular old water rings and abrasions are evident. All of these imperfections are due to age and use and do not detract from the functionality or beauty of this set.
Condition commensurate with age and use. This was a well loved and used set and the painted surface bears a significant amount of wear, see photos. However this set is still incredibly charming and the handpainted floral decoration is stunning. The construction of the dresser is sturdy and ready for many years of use and enjoyment!
