A beautiful antique early 1800s French carved oak and pine two piece cabinet that has been bleached for a lighter, rustic European look. Large compartments with shelves for storage above and below with two drawers. All doors and drawers are elaborately paneled with moulding and have working keys and old hardware. The top and sides are accented with beautiful flower and leaf relief carving. The top storage area has a French blue stripe linen ticking fabric on the interior back panel. Each drawer has two internal dividers, perhaps for silverware. A gorgeous piece that is also so functional... perfect for storing china and holiday dishes in a dining room or kitchen, or use as a linen cabinet or grand entryway piece. Blue key tassels for top and bottom cabinet doors add a colorful accent. Top doors are removable if you would like a more rustic open shelf look on the top.
Chalk on the back says "Guiet entre le 20-4-67".. See back view for insight into the age of the hand forged iron nails and wood, late 1700s or early 1800s.
This piece comes apart into a top and bottom portion for ease of movement. Top portion measures 36 inches high; bottom portion measures 39 inches high. The top portion moulding fits over the the bottom portion of the cabinet for a seamless look.
72.5"high x 60.5"wide x 20.75"deep
Condition commensurate with age and use. This is an old piece, from the early 1800s or perhaps the late 1700s, so the wood shows the age. There is separation between panels on the sides and old wormholes overall. Hardware is old and appears to be original. Doors and drawers close and lock. Original shelves offer plenty of storage. Backplates are replacements to the original iron lift handles on the sides.
