A stunning antique 1920s Indonesian (Sumatra) Tirai textile which would have been hung in a doorway or alcove during a celebration (weddings or birthdays) to symbolize good fortune. This hanging is constructed of cotton fa"W73bric and embroidered with metallic thread and ornamented with beads. Portions of the fabric are backed with old documents, to give the fabric rigidity, that bear old dates from the 1920s! Measures 28"H x 73"W x .25"D Condition commensurate with age and use. This is a 100 year old textile so it is fragile but with the proper support could be hung or framed. See photos for condition issues including holes and weak stitching.
