A beautiful and functional antique 1920s or 1930s oak console cabinet with a Carrera marble top. Likely made in England, this cabinet is old but has a modern sensibility with the golden oak accented with black shelving, a nod to earlier Biedermeier style furniture. The cabinet doors open to reveal three shelves for storage and the open shelving cubbies on the side and down the center offer additional display space. The rounded corners and complex woodworking techniques employed indicates that this piece was crafted by a skilled woodworker. Two old keys with black tassels serve as door pulls but do not lock the doors. Modern magnetic latches have been installed to keep the doors closed. This piece would be perfect in a hallway or entryway as it is shallow and decorative! Measures 36"H x 72"L x 11"D Condition commensurate with age and use. Random small scratches and imperfections in the varnish. Scratches and imperfections in the marble, as well as a water ring in the upper left, see photos. The marble is a separate removable slab to help ease the moving of the cabinet. In as found condition... it is unclear if the black paint in the cubbies is original or added at a later time. Carved wood rosettes have been added to the center of each door as a decorative accent. Structurally a sound piece ready for many years of enjoyment and use.
