A stunning antique Meiji period early 1900s Japanese Tansu chest of drawers (isho dansu = clothing chest) with original hardware and working keys. Lacquered dark stained pine comprises the outside casework while oxblood lacquer keyaki elm wood was used to create the drawer fronts. Hardware is original and crafted out of black iron. In addition to being highly decorative this chest of drawers offers a large amount of storage in five exterior drawers with two doors concealed behind the door. Measurements 34"H x 46.5"W x 17.5"D Keys are included for the door and one of the drawers. Condition commensurate with age and use.
