A beautiful unique antique circa 1900 English pine schoolmaster's or clerk's standing desk with a lift up, slant-top writing surface and drawer storage below. The old pine wood just glows with a waxed finish. Lift up the slant-top desk portion to reveal a good amount of interior storage. The drawers glide smoothly by pulling on the old brass bin pulls, which add a rustic touch. The key with navy blue tassel is included but the locking mechanism has been disabled as it did not align properly to allow for locking. The back of the piece is nicely finished so the piece can be seen in the round... use it as a hostess stand in a restaurant! This piece would fit beautifully in a home where someone wanted an old standing desk with storage, or wished to display books on the ledged writing surface with storage below. Measures 47"H x 31"W x 22"D Condition commensurate with age and use. Random scratches and imperfections in the wood. The bin pulls are old and slightly mismatched in their shape and patina. The lock to the slant desk has been disabled as the locking mechanism was not lined up properly and was unreliable. Old locking hardware is included if you want to reinstall the lock.
