Antique Art Nouveau Signed Albert Marrionet Bronze "Vide Poche" Valet Tray (RL)
A large antique, circa 1910, Art Nouveau bronze "Vide Poche" tray by French sculptor Albert Marionnet (1852-1910). This oval tray is ornamented around the perimeter with a gorgeous high relief thistle and foliage design. In typical art nouveau style the sculpted design wraps asymmetrically around the bowl portion. It has an engraved signature in the lower right that reads "A. Marionnet".
"Vide Poche" is a French phrase which means empty pockets... a tray for putting items such as your keys, pocket money, wallet, phone, etc. A stunning piece for an entry, coffee or bedside table.
Measures 3"H x 16"W x 12"D
This A. Marrionet vide poche has an aged patina and has not been polished in quite a while. When you see these in Europe they are often polished. It's up to your personal preference if you want to leave in the original state or polish it.
Condition commensurate with age and use. It has a natural aged patina with a couple of age spots on the left portion of the bowl. Small remnants of white residue in the crevices which appears to be leftover polish.
