A beautiful antique late 1800s Swedish pine storage bench with distressed blue/gray paint and an optional custom made linen tie on cushion. This bench, also called a kitchen or trundle bench, was used to store bedding. At night the seat would be removed and the insert pulled out to create an extra bed. This bench disassembles easily into three pieces but it is fully functional and sturdy as a storage bench when it is assembled. The Gustavian blue gray paint is recent, but painted in an antique, distressed manner. The wood seat of the bench is strong and distress painted with spaces in between the slats, though it is sturdy. For a rustic look the bench can be used without the custom made linen tie-on cushion. Use the linen cushion for a more formal, finished appearance. Measures 35"H x 76"L x 22"D The seat is 19" from the floor and measures 67.5"L x 20.5"D The arms are 33"H Condition commensurate with age and use with random scratches and imperfections in the painted surface and wood. The bench is strong and sturdy when assembled. It disassembles into 3 pieces so it is fairly easy to move. The tie-on linen cushion was custom made for this bench. The surface has been waxed with Fiddes Supreme Wax in clear... just buff with an old rag or soft brush to increase the shine. The finish improves with age!
