A gorgeous and functional antique early 1800s French oak buffet with three doors and three drawers that sits on curved cabriole legs. The doors are ornamented with a hand carved arched motif and all of the old iron hardware is beautifully crafted and original. Note the old peg construction throughout. The top portion of the buffet is comprised of three planks with minor gaps in between each and the wood bears scarring from centuries of use. The old oak bears a waxed finish that can be buffed with a soft brush or cloth. Use protection such as hot pads when placing hot or moist dishes on top of the buffet.
Overall measurements: 41.5"H x 78.5"W x 21"D
In addition to its beauty this buffet is highly functional in that it is lined entirely with anti-tarnish cotton flannel cloth! The drawers are lined and divided for storage of flatware. The interior compartments behind the doors are also lined. The left two doors open to reveal one large compartment (26"h x 45"W x 18.25D) while the right door is a single compartment (26"H x 20"W x 18.25"D). The interior shelves are continuous allowing for maximum storage of china and silver.
This is a strong, sturdy piece ready for many years of use!
Condition commensurate with age and use. Random imperfections in the wood including small scratches old, inactive wormhole damage and small gouges. The old keys secure the doors but do not firmly latch due to shrinkage and changes in the wood over centuries.
