A beautiful antique Tibetan storage altar cabinet which is unique in its triple stepped form. It was originally used for storing clothing, utensils and scrolls in a Tibetan monastery. The stepped form would have allowed this cabinet to also be used as an altar for displaying religious objects. Embellished with ochre and red lacquer overall while the door panels have lotus and flaming jewel motifs. The six doors open to reveal storage compartments. The scalloped crown and intricate side corbels along the top shelf add an additional decorative touch. This stunning cabinet would be the centerpiece of almost any room in a house, while offering practical storage solutions.
Measures 45.5"H x 32"W x 16"D
Condition commensurate with age and use. Random scratches and abrasions in the lacquer. Doors function well and can be removed. A stable and strong piece.
