The legs are slightly askew but strong. The painted surface is distressed throughout, particularly on the top, see photos, but has been sealed with a water-based varnish to provide a smooth hand feel and prevent paint flaking. This is a stunning piece and could be used in a large kitchen as a bar, as a kitchen island, as a server in a dining room or in a hallway or entryway. This was a rustic, functional piece when it was created for a French country kitchen. The distress painting elevates this piece but still maintains the rustic nature for which the piece was created.
