A stately antique circa 1900 Danish Biedermeier style secretary desk crafted out of gorgeous straight grain pine with original brass hardware. From top to bottom the desk has a storage drawer, a fold down desk surface with interior cubbies and drawers, and a lower storage portion covered by doors. The desk writing surface has a new ink blue hide leather insert. The pine has a waxed finish that is buttery smooth with a subtle glow. The key works on the desk portion only. An absolutely stunning piece! The top of the piece has a removable crown and measures 61" without the crown, 66.5" with the crown. Overall measurements are 66.5"H x 40.75"W x 23"D The hardware that holds the desk portion up is likely a vintage replacement of the original. Old notches in the wood from the old hardware is evident in the side of the desk surface, see photos. A small piece of moulding is missing from the left side of the crown, see last photo. Condition commensurate with age and use. The blue hide leather insert on the writing surface is new and beautiful. The key locks the desk portion only. The pine has been waxed with Fiddes Supreme Wax in Antique Brown and buffed to a soft glow. Just buff with an old t-shirt to increase the shine.
